HAMLET — The tribute band Classic Journey Live describes itself as presenting the nation’s most authentic Journey experience, and Richmond Community College is inviting the community to this free concert during the President’s Club Kick-off Celebration on Sept. 28 at the Cole Auditorium.

The free concert is part of the membership drive kickoff that will introduce alumni and other members of the community to the President’s Club of Richmond Community College. This is an exclusive club for alumni and other individuals interested in supporting and connecting with RichmondCC.

According to the Journey tribute band’s website, they invite you to “step back in time to experience Journey as they begin with Gregg Rolie and legendary frontman Steve Perry together on stage, performing the early hits, just as you remember them.” The band leaves “nothing to be desired,” from the clothes to the hairstyles, lights, musical gear, stage presence and vocals.

Sponsored by the RichmondCC Foundation, the President’s Club Kick-off Celebration will begin at 6 p.m. with the concert following after a short introduction to the club and the benefits of joining. People who come out for the celebration will also be treated to tours of the campus and free ice cream provided by Twisted Treats.

“The President’s Club is for all alumni of RichmondCC, as well as people who want to be a part of RichmondCC and all the great opportunities the college has to offer,” said Dr. Hal Shuler, Associate Vice President of Development. “This will be a way for the thousands of individuals who have realized their educational goals through the college to show their pride in RichmondCC and allow us to strengthen our relationship with alumni and other members of the community.”

The kick off celebration for the President’s Club is free and open to the public. People will have an opportunity to subscribe to the club the night of the celebration, with free prizes going to the first 100 to sign up.

Some of the benefits of joining the President’s Club include scholarships, gift certificates for the DeWitt Performing Art Series shows, discounts at the college bookstore and a discount on Anniversary Gala tickets.

“Our alumni and community members are valued members of our college family and integral to our history and future,” Shuler said. “We hope people will see the value of connecting with the college through the President’s Club.”
