ROCKINGHAM — Country singer Bailey Zimmerman will take the stage at the legendary Rockingham Speedway later this year, headlining the inaugural Tailgate N’ Tallboys Maxxed concert and car show.
The lineup for the concert was announced May 8 and the event is scheduled for Nov. 17 and 18.
Zimmerman’s debut album, “Leave the Light On,” earned the 23-year-old singer several chart-topping accolades.
According to Billboard, that album peaked at No. 2 for Top Country Album and No. 17 for Top Current Album Sales.
The single “Rock And a Hard Place” spent six weeks at No. 1 on the Country Airplay chart and also was No. 1 in Country Digital Song sales and Country Streaming Songs. The tune also charted: No. 10 on Top 100; No. 9 on Streaming Songs; No. 14 on Radio Songs; No. 5 on Digital Song Sales; and No. 2 on Hot Country Songs.
Another single, “Fall in Love,” also hit No. 1 on the Country Airplay chart.
Zimmerman’s next album, “Religiously,” was set for release Friday, May 12.
Joining Zimmerman will be singer/songwriter Ernest — who has written tunes for Morgan Wallen and Jake Owen — Chase Mathew, Mike., Jon Langston, Jake Worthington and Josh Ross, with DJ Cliffy.
In addition to the concert, the festival is set to include a car, truck and Jeep show, truck pulls, a burnout contest and a slide pit contest.
“This seems like it is going to be a great event, probably one of our bigger ones this year,” said Kim O’Sullivan with Rockingham Speedway.
The event is the follow-up to last year’s Dirty South Showdown, which drew one of the largest crowds to the track in 2022.

But before the fall, there are still several other events on the Speedway’s schedule.
Next week, the Zerbini Family circus returns for the second year with seven shows in four days May 17-20.
Owner Alain Zerbini told the RO last year that the circus began in his home country of France and said his son is the ninth generation of the family to be in the business.
Each show features acrobats and aerialists, jugglers and, of course, clowns.
Like last year, the circus will be set up on the speedway’s front lawn, according to O’Sullivan.

Next month, the Hot Rod Power Tour rolls into town.
The tour will kick off at Atlanta Motor Speedway June 12, then move to the South Carolina State Fairgrounds before stopping at the Rock June 14. From there it will head to Zmax Dragway in Concord and end at Bristol Motor Speedway.
O’Sullivan estimates a crowd of around 15,000 between participants and attendees.
MB Drift is taking off the month of May, but the grassroots series still has four more two-day events scheduled at Rockingham Speedway: three more competitive events — June 17-18, July 29-30 and Sept. 9-10; and its annual Halloween Havoc Oct. 21-22.

O’Sullivan said the speedway will also be hosting several private events at the track in the coming months.
