EVENTS: Fire Safety Day, ‘Raise the Woof’ this weekend

Here’s a quick glance at a few things coming up:

— The Rockingham Fire Department will host activities for Fire Prevention Day from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday in the parking lot of Tractor Supply.

The event is free and will feature food and kids activities including a super slide. Sparky the Fire Dog will also be there.

— The Humane Society of Richmond County will hold its annual “Raise the Woof” fundraiser Saturday.

The event, held at Hudson Brothers Deli begins at 6 p.m. and will feature food from Half-Baked, prizes and a DJ.

Prizes include:

  • Four tickets and a parking pass for the UNC v. Mercer game
  • Tickets to the Carolina Panthers v. Tennessee Titans game
  • A lantern; and
  • Gift certificates from local businesses including Merle Norman and Evolution Fitness.

Admission is $20 per person for anyone who has not purchased a $50 raffle ticket.

—The City of Rockingham Parks and Recreation Department will host its 14th annual Trunk or Treat event from 6-8 p.m. Oct. 31 at Browder Park.

Children must be in costume and accompanied by an adult. No pets are allowed except for service animals.

—The Ashley Chapel Community Center, 297 Mizpah Road in Rockingham, will have its annual Trunk or Treat on Thursday, Oct. 31st, from 6 p.m.-8 p.m.
