HAMLET — Grammy award-winning Lee Ann Womack will be in concert Friday, Nov. 15, at the Cole Auditorium on the campus of Richmond Community College in Hamlet. Womack’s performance is part of the Fidelity Bank Rock ‘N Country series.

Womack has released a total of nine studio albums and two compilations since emerging as a contemporary country artist in 1997. She has received five Academy of Country Music Awards, six Country Music Association Awards, plus the Grammy Award. She has sold over 6 million albums worldwide with hits like “I Hope You Dance,” “Never Again, Again,” “The Fool,” “A Little Past Little Rock,” “I’ll Think of a Reason Later,” “Ashes by Now,” “Why They Call It Falling,” “I May Hate Myself in the Morning” and “Mendocino County Line.”

This longtime mainstream country hit-maker comes to the Cole with these familiar songs plus a new sound that blends country and Americana. Her latest album “The Lonely, The Lonesome & The Gone” (ATO) has “some of the most immediate and deeply felt vocal performances” of Womack’s career, and that she captures “tapping into the emotional core of country,” according to NPR.

“We’re excited to have an artist like Lee Ann Womack, whose music has such emotion and connection, coming to an intimate venue like the Cole Auditorium,” said Joey Bennett, director of the Cole. “This is going to be a special concert with new music from Lee Ann that is so unvarnished and true.”
