HAMLET — Richmond Community College’s Board of Trustees approved several one-time measures to its grading policies designed to help students who have been affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. The board met via virtual conference on Tuesday to approve these emergency changes, plus four new teacher career pathways for high school students in the Career & College Promise program.

HAMLET — Sitting in a classroom at Richmond Community College in 1990, Practical Nursing student Nina Williams had no idea how far the skills she was learning would take her. Nearly 30 years later, she has a master’s and doctorate degree and is now educating other up and coming nurses.

HAMLET — Richmond Community College has named a former nursing student and instructor its Outstanding Alumni Award winner for 2019. Dr. Yolanda VanRiel, the interim department chair of Nursing at North Carolina Central University, received recognition for this achievement at the College’s Convocation on Oct. 23.

HAMLET — Nursing Department Chair Janet Sims updated Richmond Community College’s Board of Trustees about measures put into place to maintain the standards for the nursing programs to produce highly qualified graduates.

HAMLET — Seventy-three students in the Therapeutic and Diagnostics program at Richmond Community College were pinned on April 15 during a special ceremony recognizing their completion of the program. Pending passing the N.C. Certified Nursing Assistant Written and Skills test, they can become CNAs.
