ROCKINGHAM — There were several shots that weren’t ordered as patrons were leaving local bars early Saturday morning.

Patrons were making their way out of Double Vision around 2 a.m. when gunfire erupted from several vehicles leaving a neighboring club, the County Line Lounge.

A call was made to 911 to report the shots as four or five vehicles stopped near intersection of McNair Road and U.S. 74 Business.

Most of the vehicles fled the scene, with a dark-colored SUV being left behind in the road.

Officers from the Rockingham Police Department arrived a short time later.

Although witnesses thought someone had been shot, Detective Capt. George Gillenwater said Monday that there was no evidence at the scene that anyone had been injured.

There was also no one in the SUV when officers arrived.

Police found several 9mm bullet casings along the road.

A window of Mirror Image Tabernacle of Faith church was struck by a bullet, as were the windows of a building next to Double Vision.

A tow truck was called to remove the SUV from the road.

The incident report was not available Monday afternoon.

Gillenwater said no one has been charged and there are no currently no suspects in the case.

Investigators are working with the owner of the County Line Lounge to determine who was involved.

The case is still under investigation.
