HAMLET -- Sometimes it's the little things that mean the most. And for Richmond County Schools, nothing is more important than being able to provide its nearly 800 students with school supplies.

On Thursday, September 14th, RCS received a donation of 100 boxes of #2 yellow pencils from Pastor Steven Gilmer and Children’s Ministry Pastor, Toni Hodges of Church of God of Prophecy in Rockingham.  As a part of its "Reaching Our Community" initiative,  the Church of God of Prophecy delivered the 14,412 pencils to RCS Superintendent Dr. Cindy Goodman.

“We are so grateful for the ROC, Church of God of Prophecy and the entire congregation for their generous donation," Goodman said. "They have proven time and time again to be a valuable part of our community.”

The pencils will be dispersed to the county's 15 accredited schools, allowing students and faculty alike to not worry about running in short supply of the most essential tool in the classroom. To find out more information how to donate supplies, or assist RCS, contact public information officer Briana Goins at (910) 582-5860.
