Felon charged with injuring teen in Rockingham shooting

ROCKINGHAM — Police have charged a man in connection to St. Patrick’s Day shooting that left a teen injured.

Omarion Decoreious Cassidy, 18, is accused of firing shots into the Carolina Records recording studio on E. Broad Avenue on March 17.

The studio was occupied by at least two people at the time and, according to warrants, a juvenile was struck in the arm by a projectile.

Cassidy was arrested March 23 and charged with: assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury; discharging a firearm into an occupied property; felony conspiracy; and discharging a firearm in city limits.

The warrant lists three alleged co-conspirators. However, the RO is withholding their names since they have not yet been charged.

Richmond County Jail records show Cassidy is also charged with failure to appear on a felony. He is being held on a combined $125,000 secured bond and is scheduled to appear in court April 11 on the charges related to the shooting.

Cassidy has an appearance in Richmond County Superior Court for a charge of discharging a firearm into an occupied property and a felony probation violation, according to online court records.

He received a 24-month suspended sentence on that charge when convicted Feb. 29, according to records with the N.C. Department of Adult Correction.

All defendants facing criminal charges are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
