HAMLET — The Seaboard City kicked off a month full of events Friday with the return of Food Truck Friday on Main.

Today (Saturday) we celebrate the leading lady in downtown Hamlet, who has introduced a wide range of events to the historic hub of the Seaboard since she became the Hamlet Depot & Museums director and Downtown Events coordinator two years ago.

The restaurant business is hard work. Long hours, narrow profit margins, fierce competition — given the challenges, it’s not surprising that 60 percent of new restaurants fail in their first year.

ROCKINGHAM — Olin Britton Jr. took orders from the constant stream of customers Friday afternoon while his wife of five years, Lorraine, cooked them up right behind him from the kitchen area of their food truck.

DOBBINS HEIGHTS — A food truck that has recently been making the rounds in Richmond County will be providing free meals and information regarding COVID-19 later this month.
