HOFFMAN — Vehicles lined U.S. 1 late Tuesday night into Wednesday morning as the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office conducted a homicide investigation.
Few details are available at this time.
Sheriff James Clemmons, who was on the scene, confirmed that the victim was a male victim.
He said there was no motive yet established and no suspect in custody in the early stages of the investigation.
The victim’s name has not been released as the body has yet to be positively identified, he added.
More than 30 people stood behind the crime scene tape or along the highway.
Some cried or moaned tears of grief and embraced each other while others stood solemnly.
FirstHealth EMS and Hoffman Rescue Squad also responded.
The investigation is ongoing.
