He was born in Richmond County, Dec. 4, 1947, son of Thomas Alton Lampley and Ruby Williams Lampley.
Sammy previously worked for Hawks Builders as a carpenter and was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. He was a hard worker and loved cars, especially a Mopar.
He is preceded in death by his parents; and wife, Wendy Leviner Lampley.
Survivors include his daughter, Jennifer L. Mauldin of Rockingham; sons, David Lampley (Tammy) and Samuel Dwayne Lampley both of Rockingham; brothers, Randy Lampley (Tammy) of Hamlet, Jimmy Lampley (Prudence) of Rockingham and Pete Lampley of Conway, South Carolina; sisters, Bonnie Davis (Tommy) and Judy Harris (Glen Jr.) both of Rockingham; four grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
