ROCKINGHAM — Nancy Faye Steen Butler, 66, of Rockingham, passed away, Saturday, Jan. 30, 2021, at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital-Richmond.


She was born in Marlboro County, South Carolina, March 28, 1954, daughter of Ellison Steen and Ruby Grant Steen. 

Nancy attended Joy Free Will Baptist Church and had been employed at Seaboard Station Restaurant, Hamlet. She loved her children, grandchildren and great-grandchild. She will truly be missed.

She is survived by her husband, Wayne Butler of the home; daughter, Christy Teal (James) of Ellerbe; son, Rodney Butler of Rockingham; grandchildren, Mckenzie Stewart (Lewis), Brandon McFayden, Courtney Teal and Jared Teal; great-grandchild, Kason Wayne Stewart and Ivy Lynn due to arrive in March; sister, Treva Hewitt (Tony) of Bennettsville, South Carolina; and her dog, “Peanut.”

Nancy will lie in state at Harrington Funeral Home, Tuesday, Feb. 2, 2021, from 1:30-3 p.m. The family will not be present during this time.

A funeral will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 3, 2021, at Joy Free Will Baptist Church at 1 p.m. with Pastor June Grant officiating. Guests will stay in their automobiles and the service will be broadcast on 88.9 FM on their radios.

Burial will follow at Richmond Memorial Park, Rockingham.
