RALEIGH — Started by the American Motorcyclist Association in the early 1980s, May has become the month in which motorcycle enthusiasts seek to educate drivers to be aware of motorcycles and to call attention to safety issues affecting motorcycle riding. State Treasurer Dale R. Folwell, CPA, an avid motorcyclist, is asking North Carolinians to look out for motorcycles as people hit the roads for vacations this summer.

RALEIGH — New business growth in North Carolina shows no signs of stopping according to Secretary of State Elaine Marshall. “Nothing has slowed down. In fact, it has accelerated,” she said at the Tuesday, April 4 Council of State meeting. A new record was set for the first quarter of this year with nearly 47,000 new businesses being created from Jan. to March, compared to last year’s record of 45,000 in that same quarter.

State treasurer releases Debt Affordability Study

RALEIGH — State Treasurer Dale R. Folwell, CPA, announced today the results of the 2022 Debt Affordability Study, advising the Governor and General Assembly on the estimated debt capacity of the General and Transportation Funds for the upcoming 10 fiscal years.

RALEIGH — State Treasurer Dale Folwell is once again sounding the alarm on some nonprofit hospitals in the state, with a new report that shows low-income patients are being billed when they were eligible for charity care. This comes on the heels of a similar report released in October by Folwell, who oversees the State Health Plan for government employees, the largest health insurance plan in the state.
