HAMLET — The Richmond County Board of Commissioners on Tuesday approved a request to deed a piece of property to a local manufacturer making its third expansion in as many years.

HAMLET — Richmond Community College has secured $20,000 in customized training for textile manufacturer Service Thread. A large portion of that will cover the cost of training employees on a new line of textile machines that will provide a greater level of flexibility and winding quality for coarse technical yarns.

ROCKINGHAM — Global Packaging is getting closer to moving into its new facility on N.C. 177 in Hamlet.

ROCKINGHAM — Direct Pack, Inc., a leader in sustainable, full circular, thermoformed plastic packaging, announced today that it is expanding its Rockingham, manufacturing capabilities with help from a $400,000 Rural Building Reuse Grant from the state of N.C. Department of Commerce. DPI has added 56,000 sq. ft. of space and flexible manufacturing lines, and increased its workforce by 50 percent since last fall.
