Larsen wins Jetcar Showdown at Super Chevy Show

ROCKINGHAM— Elaine Larsen drove her Florida Tech jet dragster past the Dominator jet of teammate Dewayne Hill in the best of three feature event and Wayne Frazier’s 1970 Chevy pickup was deemed Best of Show to highlight the annual Super Chevy Show at Rockingham Dragway.

ROCKINGHAM — At an age at which most of his contemporaries are content to ride nothing more exotic than a lawn mower, 72-year-old Paul Gast will straddle a 170 mile-an-hour Suzuki this weekend (Sept. 24-26) at Rockingham Dragway and resume his pursuit of a third consecutive Pro Mod Championship in the ManCup Motorcycle Drag Racing Series presented by Vance and Hines.

ROCKINGHAM — Rockingham Dragway has been confirmed as the newest host of the elite NMRA Muscle Car Nationals and Holley NMRA Ford Nationals championship street car and drag racing series, crowning champions in Xtreme Pro Modified, Street Outlaw, Factory Super Cars, Renegade/Xtreme Street, Coyote Stock, Chevrolet Performance Stock, Factory Stock, N/A 10.5 and Nitrous Pro Street classes, among others.

ROCKINGHAM — Rockingham Dragway’s annual “Fall Frenzy” begins this weekend with the Carolina’s largest all-Chevy shootout, the Super Chevy Show presented by Richmond County Tourism featuring the 280 miles per hour Larsen Motorsports jet dragsters and a car show like none other.

ROCKINGHAM — In an event that recalled drag racing’s roots as the great American performance sport, Mike Gunter of Chesterfield, Virginia won an all-Mustang final over Bobby Parks of Germantown, Maryland, to claim Rockingham Dragway’s Small Tire Dig or Die Street Car Shootout and, with it, a special gun metal version of the NHRA’s iconic Wally winners’ trophy.

ROCKINGHAM — Rain spoiled what was shaping up to be an enormously successful Blue Collar Bracket Weekend at Rockingham Dragway but not before Mooresville’s Lauren Freer, Sanford’s Kevin Locklear and Benson’s Bladen Core hoisted individual trophies.
