ROCKINGHAM — A man and teenager are facing felony charges following the reported assault of another teen.

According to the Rockingham Police Department, officers responded to FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital-Richmond on Oct. 8 in reference to a 16-year-old assault victim.

During the investigation, police reportedly learned that the 16-year-old sustained a concussion following a physical altercation with a 17-year-old at Big Mike Towing and Auto Repair on Mill Road.

Investigators reportedly consulted with the District Attorney’s office before filing charges.

Police say the 17-year-old, who has not been named because of his age, was charged on a juvenile petition with a single felony count of assault inflicting serious bodily injury.

The adult, 43-year-old Michael Ray Osentowski, is accused of causing and encouraging the assault, and is charged with one felony count of aiding and abetting and two misdemeanor counts of contributing to the delinquency of a juvenile.

He was arrested Oct. 30 and released on a $10,000 unsecured bond and is scheduled to appear in court Nov. 13.

Police say the investigation is ongoing.

Records with the N.C. Department of Adult Correction show Osentowski was convicted in 2012 on two felony counts each of delivering or selling a Schedule III controlled substance and selling a Schedule VI controlled substance in Moore County.

All defendants facing criminal charges are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
