ROCKINGHAM — A Richmond County man is being held without bond after drug charges were filed by a stage agency.
Online court records show 33-year-old Devin Juwan Gadson was arrested without warrant by an agent with N.C. Alcohol Law Enforcement on Sept. 15.
Gadson is accused of possessing 181.74 grams (6.41 ounces) of marijuana, a rolling tray, plastic bag and “designer bags,” and using a 2018 Mercedes Benz GLC 300 "for keeping and selling” cannabis, according to a magistrate’s order.
The license plate on the car is also allegedly expired.
ALE has charged Gadson with: possession with intent to manufacture, sell or deliver marijuana; maintaining a vehicle, dwelling or place for a controlled substance; possession of marijuana paraphernalia; and having an expired registration card or tag.
Gadson is being held without bond in the Richmond County Jail. According to a release order, bond was denied because Gadson is currently out on bond from a 2024 case in which he is charged with driving while impaired, reckless driving to endanger and having both an expired registration and inspection.
His next court date for the latest charges is Oct. 1.
Records show Gadson has failed to appear in court three times for the 2024 case and bond forfeiture notices were issued in May 2025 and May 2026.
According to court records, Gadson’s attorney filed a notice of withdrawal, which was granted in May, and a waiver of counsel was filed in July.
Records with the N.C. Department of Adult Correction show Gadson has previously been convicted on the following charges:
2019 - possession with intent to sell a Schedule III controlled substance (Richmond); possession with intent to sell a Schedule VI controlled substance (Moore)
2023 - possession of a firearm by a felon (Guilford)
2024 - possession of a firearm by a felon (Richmond)
State records show Gadson was given probation for every conviction.
All defendants facing criminal charges are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
