Covington named executive director of Richmond County Partnership for Children

ROCKINGHAM — Brandi Covington had a “Head Start” on her new position as executive director of the Richmond County Partnership for Children.

A graduate of Richmond Senior High School, Covington went on to obtain an Associate in Early Childhood degree from Richmond Community College and Bachelor of Arts Degree in Sociology from UNC-Pembroke.

Covington is no stranger to the RCPC, previously working for more than a decade as a resource and professional development specialist.

In 2015, Covington began working with Family Services Child Development in Winston-Salem, first as an education coach, then as a professional development coordinator, and later as school readiness manager.

Since 2022, Covington has been Head Start director for Consolidated Family Services in Randleman and has helped establish Early Head Start in two counties.

She has also served as a board member with the Alamance County Partnership for Children and North Carolina Head Start Association.

Covington is scheduled to start her new job on Aug. 3.

There will be a meet-and-greet with Covington from 4-5 p.m.Thursday, Aug. 27 at the Richmond County Partnership for Children, located at 115 S. Lawrence St. in Rockingham at the Inc. Space building, which also houses Nana’s Coffee Rocks, WAYN and the Richmond Observer.

Dr. Lori Schultz was named interim executive director in May following the departure of Dr. Katrina Chance, who had held the position since 2019.
