ROCKINGHAM — Several discussion items have been added to the agenda for a special meeting of the Richmond County Board of Commissioners scheduled for Tuesday morning.

Board Clerk Dena Cook issued a notice for the meeting on June 25, noting that the purpose was to close out the current budget year and “discuss long-term planning.”

When the agenda was sent out Monday afternoon, it also included another action item — approval of a revised Home and Community Care Block Grant budget for the upcoming fiscal year — along with several items for discussion:

  • Agreement with Backpack Pals for McLaurin Center building
  • United Rentals lease at Midway Road
  • Lease agreement for hangar construction at Richmond County Airport Purchase/sale agreement with Vista Products building
  • Revolving loan request from Derek Howell's group on sport complex
  • James Building resolution

No other details were available Monday afternoon as Cook said she was still working on the agenda packet.

The meeting is scheduled to start at 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 30 at the Richmond County Airport.

The city of Hamlet also sent a revised notice regarding its special meeting scheduled for July 2.

Added to the agenda for the Hamlet meeting is an agreement for city property located at 146 Boyd Lake Road.

Acting City Manager Mackenzie Webb confirmed that the agreement is related to a proposal earlier in the year from Landmark Tavern co-owner John Martin, who has plans for a bar and grill.

That meeting, which also includes a pair of public hearings, is scheduled for 3 p.m. July 2 at City Hall.
