HAMLET — The General Henry William Harrington Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution will continue its America 250 activities with a community celebration next month at Cole Auditorium.
Chapter Regent Melissa Wall said the event, scheduled for 6 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 10, will be a family friendly affair “designed to honor our nation’s founding through education, music, and community engagement.”
“Although Richmond County holds no major Revolutionary War landmarks, our members and local veterans have worked together to create a meaningful program that reflects patriotism, service, and local pride,” Wall said.
The highlight of the celebration will be the first drone show in Richmond County, starting at 8:15 p.m. The 12-minute aerial display will feature 150 drones performing “Echoes of Independence.”
The event will also include: a “People of Colonial North Carolina” exhibit; America 250 children’s book giveaway; and patriotic music by local bluegrass band The Axe Handlers.
The event is free and open to the public.
“This is a once‑in‑a‑generation celebration for our community,” said Wall.
