ROCKINGHAM — A man is waiting for a judge to set his bond after being charged in a reported stabbing late last week.
According to a warrant issued to the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office, 45-year-old Joshua Pittman, of East Rockingham, stabbed another man with a knife on Friday, Sept. 4.
Pittman was arrested on Sept. 5, the same day the warrant was issued, charged with a single count of assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury.
The release order states that the reported victim was airlifted to the trauma center in Chapel Hill.
Because of Pittman’s prior record, his bond will be set by a district court judge. Records show his court date is scheduled for Sept. 17.
Pittman appears to have no other pending charges.
Records with the N.C. Department of Adult Correction show Pittman has the following prior convictions:
2007 - driving while license revoked, driving on the wrong side of the road
2017 - two counts of selling a Schedule II controlled substance
2021 - possession of a firearm by a felon
2022 - possession of a Schedule II controlled substance, assault with a deadly weapon, resisting a public officer
All defendants facing criminal charges are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
