HAMLET — As the calendar inches closer to the end of July, the Seaboard City is preparing to welcome back Good Company to Main Street Park.
Good Company, a local country and Southern rock cover band, will be making its second appearance in Hamlet’s Boxcar Concert Series on Friday, July 24 —with a slightly different lineup than last year.
The band features Eric Whitfield on guitar and vocals, Chuck Smith on bass and Eddie Brown on drums and vocals. Joey Moree will be filling in on lead guitar.
In addition to last year’s show with Good Company, Smith and Brown have also performed in the Boxcar series as members of the Safety Committee.
The Boxcar Concert series began in 2022 on Sunday afternoons, but was moved to the fourth Friday of each month from April-October to coincide with TGIFriday Food Trucks on Main.
The food truck lineup for this week is: Max’s Millstone BBQ; The Bean and Cheese; Mama Blair’s; Puckered Up Lemonade; and Jonesie’s Cheesecakes.
The food trucks will be located near the Hamlet Visitors Center and Depot from 11 a.m.-7 p.m. and the band will play from 6-8 p.m.
Other bands on the schedule for this year are: the Jonathan Robinson Band in August; Erik Hawks and the Hard Luck Band in September; and The Radio in October, the night before the Seaboard Festival.
Friday night will feature even more live music with the Blewett Dam Band playing 9-p.m.-midnight at the Landmark Tavern in Hamlet and Whiskey River playing from 8-11 p.m. at Hudson Brothers Deli in Rockingham.
