HAMLET — A railroad crossing the Seaboard City will be closing for a few days next week for emergency repairs.
Southern Commercial Development, which provides traffic control and detour signage for CSX Transportation, announced Thursday that the crossing on Hamlet Avenue will temporarily close following the identification of a rail defect.
This will result in a total closure, scheduled for 7 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 9 through 5 p.m. Friday, Sept. 11 between Front and Bridges streets.
That time frame is subject to change due to weather or other unforeseen conditions.
No traffic will be allowed to cross until the repairs are complete, and signs will be in place to mark detour routes.
