HAMLET — The Hamlet Business Development Association is proud to announce its official reestablishment, ushering in a new era of collaboration, economic growth, and support for local businesses in Hamlet.
Originally founded more than 15 years ago, the HBDA played a vital role in bringing the business community together. Among its most notable contributions was the beloved annual Old Fashioned Christmas celebration on Main Street, along with ongoing efforts to unify and support local business owners.
Today, with new businesses emerging and renewed energy in downtown Hamlet, the HBDA returns with a fresh leadership team and a forward-looking vision.
The organization’s new mission statement reflects its commitment to both heritage and progress:
“The Hamlet Business Development Association exists to support and strengthen locally owned small and medium-sized businesses while fostering sustainable economic growth in historic downtown Hamlet, North Carolina. Through collaboration, advocacy, and community-driven initiatives, we work to preserve Hamlet’s unique heritage, promote entrepreneurship, and cultivate a vibrant downtown that benefits businesses, residents, and visitors alike.”
The reestablished HBDA is led by Co-Presidents Greg Padilla, founder of the Military Veterans Foundation, and Michelle Padilla, owner of Big Tomato Marketing, located on Main Street in Hamlet. Together, they bring a shared passion for community development, entrepreneurship, and local collaboration.
“As Hamlet continues to grow, it’s more important than ever that our local businesses have a unified voice and a strong support system,” said the HBDA leadership team. “We’re building something that not only honors the past but creates real opportunity for the future.”
The HBDA is actively seeking new members who are passionate about growth, collaboration, and community impact. The organization is also in the process of rebuilding its Executive Board and welcomes individuals interested in taking a leadership role in shaping the future of downtown Hamlet.
