HAMLET — A man with a history of theft is accused of recently breaking into a car and stealing from a convenience store.

Court records show that 30-year-old Brandon Alexander Muldrow, who is listed as being homeless, was arrested without warrant by the Hamlet Police Department for allegedly stealing a Door Dash bag from the trunk of a Mazda 6S on June 21.

A magistrate’s order was issued, charging Muldrow with one felony count of breaking and entering a motor vehicle with theft.

An arrest warrant alleges that, on the same day, Muldrow stole the following items from the Hamlet Food Mart on King Street: six Big Mama sausages; seven packs of M&Ms; two beef and cheese sticks; 18 packs of Mike & Ike candy; a 16-ounce Busch Light; and a 12-ounce Milwaukee's Best.

According to the warrant, Muldrow had previously been told not to be on the property.

Muldrow was charged with misdemeanor larceny and second-degree trespassing.

He was booked into the Richmond County Jail where he is being held on a combined $6,500 secured bond. Muldrow’s first court appearance was June 22 and his next court date is scheduled for July 16.

Online court records show Muldrow had several convictions in 2025: two counts of communicating threats; disorderly conduct; two counts of criminal contempt; and two counts of second-degree trespassing.

Court records show another case with charges of trespassing and communicating threats was dismissed after an evaluation found that Muldrow was incapable to proceed.

Records with the N.C. Department of Adult Correction show Muldrow has even more prior convictions:

2014 - three counts of breaking and entering vehicles, felony larceny

2015 - misdemeanor breaking and entering

2016 - post-release revocation

2019 - breaking and entering vehicles, felony breaking and entering, possession of a firearm by a felon

2021 - attempted common law robbery

2023 - two counts of attempted common law robbery

2024 - communicating threats, trespassing

All defendants facing criminal charges are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
