ROCKINGHAM — The Richmond County Sheriff’s Office has filed trafficking charges against a man allegedly caught with more than 40 grams of meth.
An arrest warrant, issued May 20, alleges that 50-year-old Yusuf Niam Hassinne Robinson, of Hamet, was found in possession of 49 grams of methamphetamine, as well as a set of digital scales.
Robinson was arrested the following day and charged with one felony count of trafficking in methamphetamine and one misdemeanor count of possession of drug paraphernalia.
He is being held in the Richmond County Jail on a $100,000 secured bond. His first appearance in court was May 22 and his next court date is scheduled for June 4.
Records with the N.C. Department of Adult Correction show Robinson has a history of drug and other charges dating back more than 30 years, but not in the past decade. His prior convictions are as follows:

1993 - possession of a firearm by a felon
1994 - misdemeanor larceny (Moore); selling a Schedule II controlled substance
1995 - misdemeanor breaking and entering

2008 - two counts of possession with intent to sell a Schedule II controlled substance, speeding to elude arrest, felony breaking and entering
2012 - selling a Schedule II controlled substance, being a habitual felon
Robinson was released from prison in 2017 and his parole ended the following year. NCDAC records show no other convictions since then.
All defendants facing criminal charges are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
