ROCKINGHAM — A man with a pending case in Richmond County Superior Court is facing new drug charges.
According to a warrant issued to the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office, 34-year-old William Blake Callahan, of Hamlet, was found in possession of an unspecified quantity of fentanyl and meth and Xanax on Nov. 1.
Callahan also allegedly had scales and plastic baggies investigators believe were used for packaging drugs.
He was arrested and charged with one felony count each of possession of a Schedule II controlled substance and possession of methamphetamine, as well as one misdemeanor count each of simple possession of a Schedule IV controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Callahan was booked into the Richmond County Jail on a $200,000 secured bond and is scheduled to appear in court Nov. 13.
Records show Callahan is also being held on a $1.5 million secured bond for the following pending charges in Superior Court: trafficking in opium or heroin; trafficking in methamphetamine; three counts of possession with intent to manufacture, sell or deliver a Schedule III controlled substance; and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Court records show several other cases as pending, although the charges have previously been voluntarily dismissed without leave by the district attorney’s office.
Callahan was given a 24-month suspended sentence in2023 when he was convicted of assault on a female, according to records with the N.C. Department of Adult Correction.
Records show Callahan was first convicted in Scotland County of carrying a concealed weapon and possession of drug paraphernalia in 2021.
All defendants facing criminal charges are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
