ROCKINGHAM — A Hamlet man wanted for a kidnapping in the Palmetto State was reportedly found in Richmond County.

According to the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office, 29-year-old Kendrick Marquel Terry was arrested Wednesday, March 25.

Terry is accused of kidnapping 23-year-old Myasia McIver from the Cleveland Street area of Cheraw, South Carolina, on March 23, according to the RCSO and Chesterfield County Sheriff’s Office.

McIver was later found safe as investigators continued to search for Terry.

According to the RCSO, Terry was tracked to Dobbins Heights, where he was “taken into custody without incident.”

The RCSO says Terry was charged with a count of being a fugitive from justice and booked into the Richmond County Jail on a $250,000 secured bond, and was extradited to South Carolina following his first appearance.

South Carolina records show he is also charged with first-degree assault and battery and was given a $30,000 secured bond, which was posted on March 27. His court appearance there is scheduled for May 28.

The N.C. court system was down at the time of writing, so the RO was unable to determine if Terry has any other pending charges in the state.

Records with the N.C. Department of Adult Correction show that Terry is currently on probation following an October 2025 conviction in Moore County on a charge of possession of a firearm by a felon. He was given a 12-month suspended sentence.

Terry also has multiple other prior convictions in this state:

2013 - felony breaking and entering (Richmond County)

2015 - two counts of possession of drug paraphernalia (Union County)

2019 - 21 counts of breaking and entering vehicles, two counts of felony larceny, one count of felony breaking and entering (Moore County)

2023 - carrying a concealed weapon (Richmond County)

South Carolina records show Terry pleaded guilty to grand larceny in Chesterfield County in 2023.

All defendants facing criminal charges are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
