ROCKINGHAM — The Richmond Senior High School softball program is gearing up for another summer filled with youth development camps.
Announced earlier this month, the Lady Raiders and head coach Caroline Wilson will host separate camps for elementary and middle school aged players.
Returning for their second summer under the direction of Wilson, both camps will be three days in early June.
Richmond’s Little Raiders camp will kick things off Wednesday, June 3, and run through Friday, June 5. That will be followed by Middle School camp, which is scheduled for Monday, June 8, through Wednesday, June 10.
Both camps are $65 per camper (plus a $4.25 processing fee) and will run between 8:30 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. each day.
Little Raiders camp is available to players who are rising first to fifth graders, while Middle School camp will host rising sixth to eighth graders.
Registration is currently open for both camps, which will be held at Paula York Field on Richmond’s campus. Those who register before May 25 are guaranteed a camp t-shirt.

During its inaugural camps last summer, Richmond welcomed around 60 total players. Wilson expects that number to grow based on last summer’s success.
“We had a great turnout last summer and we expect our participation to grow this summer,” Wilson said. “There’s always a lot of interest in softball in our community and hopefully more girls will be able to attend.
“We’re excited to have our players help out again,” she added. “We will also have Allyiah Swiney back this summer and she can offer a lot of expertise.”
Swiney, a former Lady Raider standout, just concluded her collegiate career at Campbell University.
