ROCKINGHAM — A Maxton man is facing felony charges after allegedly stealing from a local outdoors store.

An arrest warrant alleges that 37-year-old Charles Rudolph Anderson stole three Turtlebox portable bluetooth outdoor speakers from Mad Katz Outdoors on July 14.

The property is valued at $1,451.25, according to the warrant.

Anderson is also accused of “using force to facilitate his … immediate flight after committing a felonious larceny and to retain possession of stolen property, by assaulting and causing injury” to an employee of the store.

The warrant also names an alleged co-conspirator. However, court records do not indicate that that individual has yet been served.

The warrant was issued the following day to a deputy with the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office, charging Anderson with: felony larceny; conspiracy to commit felony larceny; robbery; and misdemeanor organized retail theft.

Anderson was arrested July 16 and booked into the Richmond County Jail, where he is being held without bond. He is scheduled to appear in court June 30.

Online court records show Anderson has pending charges of misdemeanor larceny and second-degree trespassing in Scotland County from the day of his arrest.

Records with the N.C. Department of Adult Correction show Anderson has the following prior convictions in Robeson County:

2017 - possession with intent to sell a Schedule II controlled substance, possession with intent to sell a Schedule VI controlled substance, maintaining any place for a controlled substance

2023 - felony breaking and entering (3 counts), conspiracy to commit felony larceny (3 counts), larceny after breaking and entering (3 counts), injury to personal property

All defendants facing criminal charges are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
