ROCKINGHAM — Two men are facing multiple charges after investigators find more than 50 grams of meth and other narcotics while executing a search warrant.
According to the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office, the Community Impact Team obtained a search warrant for 160 Alcan Road, north of Rockingham, which was executed on March 4.
The RCSO Special Response Team and Patrol Division, as well as the Rockingham Police Department’s Vice/Narcotics Unit assisted in the investigation.
During the search, investigators reportedly found: 57.9 grams of methamphetamine; 30.5 grams (1.075 ounces) of marijuana; 2.1 grams of crack cocaine; four oxycodone pills; 19 suboxone strips; assorted drug paraphernalia (plastic baggies and digital scales); and six firearms, including a Del-Ton DTI .556-caliber AR-style pistol.
Investigators arrested 20-year-old Nathaniel Mauk and 38-year-old Brandon Terrell Deese, both of the address searched, and charged each man with: trafficking in methamphetamine; possession with intent to manufacture, sell or deliver cocaine; possession with intent to manufacture, sell or deliver a Schedule III controlled substance; possession with intent to manufacturer, sell or deliver marijuana; simple possession of a Schedule II controlled substance; and possession of drug paraphernalia.
(NOTE: There are two identical warrants for Mauk with differing file numbers listed in online court records.)
Mauk was also charged with possession of a firearm by a felon.
Mauk is being held in the Richmond County Jail on a $500,000 secured bond, Deese is being held on a $150,000 secured bond. They are scheduled to appear in court on March 19.
A press release notes that Sheriff Mark Gulledge "praised the coordinated effort of all units involved, stating that operations like this are vital to disrupting illegal drug activity and protecting the citizens of Richmond County. He reaffirmed the Sheriff’s Office’s commitment to proactive enforcement and community safety."
According to the release, the case is still under investigation and more charges may be forthcoming.
Records show Mauk was convicted in June 2025 in Anson County on two counts of breaking and entering vehicles and two counts of breaking and entering following a plea deal, and was charged with two probation violations the following September.
Deese appears to have no prior convictions in North Carolina.
All defendants facing criminal charges are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
