Carolyn Currie Thomas, 70, of Rockingham, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, Sept. 29, 2026, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born Sept. 19, 1956, in Richmond County, to the late Frank Currie and Irene Brigman Currie.
She was a loving and devoted mother who always put her family first. There was no better mother than her, and her love and care for her family will never be forgotten.
She loved spending time talking with her sisters, working in her yard, and gardening. In earlier years, she enjoyed traveling to California to visit her daughter and treasured the time they spent together. She also loved camping at the river and fishing with her husband and family in times past. Some of her happiest moments were simply being together with the people she loved. She will be deeply missed, but her love will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Michael Wayne Thomas Sr.; and brother, David Currie.
Left to cherish her memories are her children, Christy Jundi (Saleh), Michael Thomas Jr., Bobbi Thomas, Brian Thomas and Ricky Thomas (Christy), all of Rockingham; grandchildren, Sophia Thomas, Mikayla Thomas, Whitney Thomas, Gracie Thomas, Raelynn Tanner and Liam Thomas; brother, James Currie (Terri) of Rockingham; sisters, Donna Pope (Johnny) of Rockingham, Mary Ann Jeffery of Rockingham, Teresa Garrison (Wayne) of Rockingham, Shelby Cobbler (Tommy) of Ellerbe and Joanne Hussey of Winston-Salem; aunt, Martha Alice Hughes; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family.
A visitation will be held on Friday, Oct. 2, 2026, from 1-2 p.m. at Harrington Funeral Home.
The funeral service will immediately follow the visitation at 2 p.m., in the chapel of Harrington Funeral Home. Pastor Joe Wilkes will be officiating.
