Doris Woodell Quick, 81, of Hamlet, passed away Friday, July 31, 2026 at Pruitt Health, Rockingham.

She was born June 12, 1945, in Robeson County, daughter of the late Marvin and Leslie Holmes Woodell.

Doris was a kind, gentle-spirited lady who loved, most of all, spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  She enjoyed tending to her flowers and fishing, especially at Everett’s Lake.

Her granddaughter, Krystal, thoughtfully remembers Doris saying, “You are my best friend and I am your best friend,” doting the special bond that they shared.  She will be remembered fondly by her family who loved her dearly.

Along with her parents, Doris was preceded in death by her brother, Wilbert Woodell; sisters, Teresa Woodell, Betty Ann Smith and Rachel Wilkes; and her beloved son-in-law, Chris Blackmon.

Left to cherish her memories is her husband of 61 years, Danny Closs Quick of the home; daughter, Rhonda Blackmon of Hamlet; grandchildren, Krystal Smith and C.J. Blackmon (Tara Thompson); great-grandchildren, Lanie Blackmon and Jacob Smith; brother, Delbert Woodell (Doris) of Bennettsville, South Carolina; and sister, Margie Ward of Laurinburg.

Visitation will be Monday, Aug. 3, 2026 from noon-1 p.m. at Harrington Funeral Home, Hamlet.

The funeral service will immediately follow the visitation, at 1 p.m., in the chapel of Harrington Funeral Home with Pastor Gene Alexander officiating. Burial will follow at Nebo Wesleyan Church Cemetery.

At other times, the family will receive friends at the home of her granddaughter, Krystal, 406 Poplar St., Hamlet.

Harrington Funeral Home & Crematory is serving the Quick family.
