Faye Peele Hayes, 90, of Hamlet, North Carolina, passed away on July 10, 2026, at Richmond Co. Hospice Haven.
Born on Sept. 26, 1935 in Marlboro County, South Carolina, she lived a life marked by love, faith, and devotion to her family.
Faye was a cherished daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, and friend whose gentle spirit touched the lives of many. She was known as a loving and faith-filled woman who carried herself with grace and kindness. Her presence brought comfort to those around her, and her life reflected the values she held dear throughout her years.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Wade and Annie Mudd Peele and her husband Clifford Harvey Hayes.
She was the beloved mother of her son, Alton Hayes, and his wife, Susan, of Hamlet, and her daughter, Anna Lee Jenkins, and her husband, Fred, of Rockingham. She is also survived by her brothers, Johnny Peele of Hamlet and Harold Pearson of Rockingham.
Faye leaves behind four grandchildren, Amy Wilkerson (Paul), William Hayes, Emily Jo Robbins (Trey) and Jonathan Jenkins (Meris), eight great-grandchildren, Jordan (Erin), Jasmine, William, Hannah (James), Caroline, Mackensie, Kaleb and Rayleigh; two great-great- grandchildren, Brantlyn and Haylen; and several bonus grandchildren, all of whom were blessed by her love and encouragement. Her family was the center of her world, and she treasured every moment spent with them.
Faye retired from the textile industry after many years of dedicated work. Her strong work ethic and dependable nature were evident in all she did.
A devoted Christian, Faye was a member of Second Baptist Church in Hamlet. Her faith was an important part of her life and guided her in both word and deed. She found strength in her beliefs and shared that strength with others through her kindness, compassion, and steady presence. Her church family held a special place in her heart, and she valued the fellowship and worship she shared there.
Faye enjoyed cooking, reading, needle pointing, sewing and spending time with her family.
These simple pleasures brought her joy and reflected the warmth of her personality. She found happiness in caring for others and in creating a welcoming home where family and loved ones could gather.
A funeral service will be at noon Wednesday, July 15, 2026 at Second Baptist Church in Hamlet with the Rev. Chris Hawks and the Rev. Scott Setzer is officiating. Burial will follow at Richmond Co. Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 11 a.m.-noon. prior the service at the church.
Faye Peele Hayes will be remembered with love by all who were fortunate enough to know her. Her memory will continue to live on in the hearts of her family and friends, who will forever cherish the blessing of her life.
