Jerry C. Sheppard Sr., 84, of Rockingham, passed away Thursday, July 23, 2026 at his home, surrounded by his loving family.
Jerry was a devoted family man who served his country in the Marine Corps and his community as a law enforcement officer for the N.C. Department of Transportation. Up until his health began to deteriorate, he was active as a deacon for Beverly Hills Baptist Church.
Jerry enjoyed spending time with his family, church activities, working out and going to RSHS football games with friends.
Jerry is survived by his wife of 64 years, Gloria Sheppard; his son, Jerry Jr., daughter-in-law Sandra and granddaughter Lilith Sheppard; and brother Bobby Sheppard (w. Sheila).
Visitation will be held on Monday, July 27, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Beverly Hills Baptist Church. The funeral will be held Tuesday, July 28 at 11 a.m. at Beverly Hills Baptist Church followed by a brief graveside service at Richmond Memorial Park with military honors.
