Margie Gregory Ashby, 87, of Hamlet, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, on Thursday, Sept. 10, 2026.
She was born in Anson County on April 1, 1939 to the late John D. Gregory and Josie Williams.
Margie was a simple lady who loved her family, especially her grandchildren. She enjoyed working at the laundromat, which she did for many years of her working life. She made the best potato salad and would always cook it for Thanksgiving and Christmas. She also loved going to Kentucky Fried Chicken and Captain D’s. Her family and loved ones will cherish the memories they shared with her and will miss her dearly.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughters, Michelle Lee Caulder and Shelly McLendon; brothers, J.D. Gregory, Curt Gregory, Earl Gregory and Richard Gregory; and sister, Pauline Gregory.
She is survived by her son, Michael Ashby of Hamlet; seven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren with a baby girl on the way; and sister, Lou Moore of Wadesboro.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, Sept. 17, 2026 at 5:30 p.m., at Harrington Funeral Home in Hamlet.
