Rain Nikom Nelson Newman, 29 years of age, entered eternal rest on Wednesday, Aug. 12, 2026.
Rain was born in Rockingham on Nov. 1, 1996.
He was an old soul, had a passion for skateboarding, searching for arrowheads, and collecting old coins, vintage record albums and John Wayne memorabilia. Rain enjoyed playing the guitar, was a self-taught welder, also making Dean’s list and earning his welding degree from RCC. He took great pride in his work and the things he created.
Rain’s many simple pleasures in life included fishing, hunting, gardening, cooking, family, and keeping things clean and organized.
Rain will be remembered for his genuine care and selfless acts for others. He was authentic, possessed strong work ethics, and a unique personality.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Nelson Newman; and his maternal grandfather, Oune Sriratanakoul.
Left to cherish his memory are his parents, Christopher Nelson Newman of Rockingham and Phouthasone Faye Sriratanakoul-Nicholson, of Hamlet; his sister, Laney Grace Chantara Keane of Hamlet; paternal grandmother, Deborah Newman; maternal grandmother, Ousa Sriratanakoul; several aunts, uncles and cousins; niece, Selah Barrett; and his beloved dogs, Draco and Jenny.
Rain will be missed beyond measure. Most importantly, he will be remembered by all who knew and loved him. Our loss is heavy, deep sadness lingers.
A Celebration of Life will be held for Rain, “like the sky,” at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 22, 2026, at Harrington Funeral Home in Hamlet.
