ROCKINGHAM — A half-dozen misdemeanor charges have been filed against a man accused of assaulting another.
According to arrest warrants taken out by the reporting victim, 32-year-old Jason Kyle Hegge threw a post cap and hit the reporting victim in the hand on March 24.
Hegge allegedly threatened to kill the reporting victim and damaged two posts, an outdoor clock and a planter.
That warrant was issued the same day.
On April 15, Hegge allegedly punched the reporting victim several times in the head and threatened to stab him in the head while running at him holding a butcher knife, resulting in a second warrant being issued.
Hegge was arrested April 16 and charged with: two counts of simple assault; two counts of communicating threats; one count of assault with a deadly weapon; and one count of injury to personal property.
The defendant was booked into the Richmond County Jail on a combined $5,000 secured bond. He has one hearing set for April 17 and another for May 8.
Records with the N.C. Department of Adult Correction show Hegge was given a 12-month suspended sentence in September 2025 when he was convicted of assault on a female.

2022 - burning personal property, two counts (one misdemeanor, one felony) of willfully setting fire to woodland (Lee)
2024 - willfully setting fire to woodland (Lee)
All defendants facing criminal charges are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
