ROCKINGHAM — A man wanted in a late-April larceny is also facing several drug charges.
An arrest warrant alleges that 45-year-old Brian Mitchell McLaughlin, of the southern end of the county, stole the following items on April 30: a wooden deck; residential range; residential refrigerator; and a bathroom vanity with sink and fixtures.
The property is valued at $1,725, according to the warrant.
McLaughlin is also accused of damaging the deck and vanity.
The warrant — charging McLaughlin with felony larceny and injury to personal property —was issued May 15 to the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office, and McLaughlin was taken into custody on June 25.
On the day he was arrested, McLaughlin was allegedly caught with 5.2 grams of meth, glass smoking pipes and a plastic straw, as well as a concealed Taurus G3C .40-caliber handgun.
Deputies subsequently charged McLaughlin with: possession with intent to manufacture, sell or deliver methamphetamine; maintaining a vehicle, dwelling or place for a controlled substance (a 1997 Nissan pickup); carrying a concealed weapon; and possession of drug paraphernalia.
McLaughlin was booked into the Richmond County Jail on a combined $35,000 secured bond and is scheduled to appear in court July 2 on all charges.
Records with the N.C. Department of Adult Correction show McLaughlin was convicted of misdemeanor larceny in 2004 and possession of drug paraphernalia in 2006.
All defendants facing criminal charges are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
