Richmond County man accused of stealing financial cards, having fentanyl

ROCKINGHAM — A man was reportedly caught with fentanyl after allegedly trying to use a stolen credit card.

A magistrate’s order alleges that 52-year-old Timothy Allen Braddock attempted to buy sodas and lottery tickets from a convenience store on Mill Road on Sunday, Aug. 9.

Braddock allegedly stole three financial cards from the same victim and was in possession of an unspecified quantity of fentanyl.

He was arrested and charged with: three counts of financial card theft; one count of attempting to obtain property by false pretenses; and one count of possession of fentanyl.

Braddock is being held in the Richmond County Jail on a $25,000 secured bond and is scheduled to appear in court Aug. 20.

Records with the N.C. Department of Adult Correction show Braddock has a criminal history dating back three decades, with the following prior convictions: 

1991 - injury to real property, assault inflicting serious injury, resisting an officer, felony breaking and entering (Stanly)

1992 - misdemeanor larceny, misdemeanor breaking and entering (one count in Richmond, one in Davidson), resisting an officer

1993 - felony breaking and entering, felony larceny (Davidson)

1994 - escape from prison (Rowan)

1996 - two counts of common law robbery, assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury (Davidson)

2004 - felony breaking and entering, breaking and entering vehicles, assault on a public official, habitual misdemeanor assault

2006 - injury to real property

2017 - common law robbery, attempted second-degree arson

All defendants facing criminal charges are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
