ROCKINGHAM — Although several prior charges have been dropped, one Richmond County man is accused of another crime.
According to an arrest warrant, taken out by the reported victim, 36-year-old Jamie Ryan Clodfelter forced his face between the victim’s legs when she got out of the shower on Oct. 16.
Court records indicate the two share a residence on Midway Road.
The warrant was issued that day, charging Clodfelter with a single felony count of sexual battery.
Clodfelter was arrested Oct. 22 and booked into the Richmond County Jail where he is being held without bond. He is scheduled to appear in court Nov. 3.
Court records show Clodfelter had been charged with assault and battery on Sept. 23, but that case was dismissed on Oct. 6.
In June, Clodfelter was charged with assault with a deadly weapon and two counts of communicating threats. Those charges were dismissed in July when the district attorney’s office was unable to find the prosecution witnesses, records show.
A previous charge of false imprisonment filed in April has also been dismissed.
However, Clodfelter does have pending misdemeanor charges of violating a domestic violence protective order and possession of up to a half-ounce of marijuana in Moore County.
Records with the N.C. Department of Adult Correction show Clodfelter served four years and two months in prison following a 2019 conviction in Randolph County on charges of first-degree arson, burning personal property, second-degree burglary and larceny after breaking and entering, as well as assault on an officer or state employee.
He was incarcerated again in 2024 on a three-month reimprison violation.
Clodfelter was first convicted in 2009 on misdemeanor charges of criminal contempt and simple assault in Randolph County. His probation was revoked and he spent two months behind bars.
Other prior convictions in Randolph County include:
2010 - two counts of assault on an officer or government employee (initially a single count of assault with a deadly weapon on a government officer)
2011 - communicating threats
2014 - discharging a firearm into an occupied property, felony breaking and entering; possession of drug paraphernalia
All defendants facing criminal charges are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
