ROCKINGHAM — A woman is facing a felony assault charge after allegedly punching a nurse.

Amanda Cigi Williams, 39, is accused of punching a registered nurse with FirstHealth in the face with a closed fist on Aug. 23.

An arrest warrant was issued the following day, charging Williams with assault with physical injury on emergency personnel, which is a felony.

Williams was arrested Oct. 23 and booked into the Richmond County Jail on a $10,000 secured bond. She is scheduled to appear in court Nov. 13.

Records with the N.C. Department of Adult Correction show Williams was first convicted in 2015 on one felony count each of breaking and entering, larceny after breaking and entering, and conspiracy to commit breaking and entering in Cumberland County.

Her probation on the first two was revoked the following year when she was convicted in Richmond County of delivering or selling a Schedule II controlled substance. She served about three months in prison, but was back behind bars on a post-release revocation for another six months.

All defendants facing criminal charges are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
