ROCKINGHAM — Richmond Senior’s Emely Valencia had the third-fastest time in the girls’ race during a developmental cross country meet Wednesday afternoon at Hinson Lake.

Valencia completed the two-lap run with a time of 24:41:49 in the meet that also included runners from Hoke County and Overhills high schools.

She was soon followed by three more Raiders runners:

Other runners on Richmond’s girls team included:

  • Alana McBride - 27:28:37
  • Janet Morales Zapata - 29:04:41
  • Adryan Southall - 29:51:06
  • Makensey Puckett - 30:24:04
  • Nayala Madrigal - 39:55:05

In the boys’ run, Ernesto Mendez, Elliot Samuel and Nicholas Crawford finished close together with Alijah Goodwin trailing a little farther behind. Their times were as follows:

  • Mendez - 23:32:74
  • Samuel - 23:37:67
  • Crawford - 23:41:58
  • Goodwin - 28:50:96

Finishing first in that race was Hoke’s Jermaine Manning II with a time of 17:59:69. He was followed by fellow Buck Josiah McCallum at 18:41:67 and Overhills’ Isaac Redmon at 19:48:89.

The Raiders are scheduled to host another meet at Hinson Lake next week.
