ROCKINGHAM — A man was reportedly caught with a stolen motorcycle late last week after police reportedly received an alert from a contracted surveillance network.
According to the Rockingham Police Department, officers received a notification on Friday, May 15 from the Flock system regarding a motorcycle reported stolen out of Stanly County.
Police reportedly patrolled the area of Rockingham Road and Pickett Street when one officer found the motorcycle on Pickett, as well 53-year-old Darrell Evans Little, who reportedly matched the description associated with the vehicle.
Little, of Ellerbe, allegedly refused several commands from officers while they were trying to detain him before being taken into custody.
Police charged Little with one county of possession of a stolen motor vehicle. He was given a $10,000 secured bond and released on bail the same day, records show. Little is scheduled to appear in court May 28.
Online court records show Little has a pending case in Montgomery County from 2025, charged with: possession of drug paraphernalia; giving, lending or borrowing a license plate; and driving while license revoked.
Records with the N.C. Department of Adult Correction show Little has a criminal history dating back more than 30 years with the following prior convictions:
1991 - possession with intent to sell a Schedule II controlled substance (Moore)
1993 - possession of a Schedule II controlled substance
1994 - felony larceny
1995 - felony breaking and entering, selling a Schedule II controlled substance
1997 - forgery (three counts), cheating property or services (two counts)
2000 - felony larceny, felony breaking and entering
2004 - robbery with a dangerous weapon, being a habitual felon
2012 - felony breaking and entering, assault inflicting serious bodily injury
2023 - possession with intent to sell a Schedule II controlled substance (two counts, one in Moore), possession of a Schedule II controlled substance
All defendants facing criminal charges are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
