ROCKINGHAM — Police have charged a man with trafficking meth — between two local daycare centers.
Court records show 41-year-old Charles Willis Scott Jr., of Biltmore Drive, was arrested by the Rockingham Police Department late Wednesday morning on multiple drug-related charges.
Scott is accused of being in possession of 41 grams of meth in three bags and an unspecified quantity of fentanyl, as well as several clear plastic bags, two digital scales with residue, used syringes and a glass meth pipe.
He also allegedly used his home — which is located close to Busy Bees Academy and Learning Center and just down the road from Over the Rainbow Child Development Center — for “keeping and selling” controlled substances.
Scott is charged with one felony count each of trafficking in methamphetamine, possession of fentanyl and maintaining a vehicle, dwelling or place for a controlled substance, as well as a misdemeanor count of possession of drug paraphernalia.
He was booked into the Richmond County Jail at 11:52 a.m. and is being held on a $125,000 secured bond. His court date is scheduled for July 16.
Online court records show Scott has a pending charge of possession of drug paraphernalia from 2025.
Documents show the same officer listed as the complainant in both cases.
Scott appears to have no prior convictions in North Carolina.
All defendants facing criminal charges are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
