ROCKINGHAM — A Moore County woman wanted for failing to appear in court was allegedly caught with drugs in Richmond County.

Darian Jade Wood, 29, of Carthage, has been charged by the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office for allegedly having an unspecified quantity of meth and five buprenorphine pills, as well as needles and spoons, on Oct. 14.

Wood was arrested and charged with one felony count of possession of methamphetamine, and one misdemeanor count each of simple possession of a Schedule II controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.

She is being held without bond in the Richmond County Jail and is scheduled to appear in court Oct. 23. (NOTE: Woods’ first name is spelled “Derian” in online jail records.”

Online court records show Wood was arrested June 30 on one misdemeanor count each of breaking and entering and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Wood failed to appear in court Sept. 24 and an order for her arrest was issued the following day. A bond forfeiture notice was issued Oct. 5. She is being held on a $6,000 secured bond for those charges.

Records with the N.C. Department of Adult Correction show Wood was convicted in 2016 on two counts of possession with intent to sell a Schedule II controlled substance and one count of possession of a Schedule II controlled substance.

When her probation was revoked the following year, one count each of possession of a Schedule VI controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia was added. She was incarcerated for five months.

All defendants facing criminal charges are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
