ROCKINGHAM — Investigators with the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office have filed a criminal charge against a woman accused of helping a shooting suspect leave the county.

An arrest warrant alleges that 33-year-old Laeisha Tashe Williams, of Ponds Lane north of Rockingham, sent $45 through Cashapp to a man who allegedly drove 31-year-old William Lewis Pratt Jr. from her home to Fayetteville.

(NOTE: A search of court records did not show any related served warrants for the alleged driver, so his name is currently being withheld.)

At the time, Pratt was wanted for shooting and injuring Emerson Quick Jr. in Dobbins Heights on May 7. He was subsequently taken into custody and charged with attempted first-degree murder. Pratt remains in the Richmond County Jail without bond.

The warrant for Williams’ arrest, charging her with one count of accessory after the fact, was issued May 12 and she was arrested May 14.

Online court records show Williams was charged May 7 with resisting a public officer for allegedly lying to deputies while being questioned during the investigation. She was given a $2,500 unsecured bond for that charge.

Williams is being held on a $100,000 secured bond and is scheduled to appear in court May 21.

Records with the N.C. Department of Adult Correction show Williams has no prior convictions in the state.

All defendants facing criminal charges are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
