Herbert Wallace Young Jr., 90, of Cordova, passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday, Oct. 29, 2026.
Herbert was born on Nov. 2, 1935 in Richmond County to the late Herbert and Josephine Young.
Following high school, he spent 20 years in the United States Army. Before retiring, he spent two tours in Vietnam. He then worked for Cameron Morrison Prison as a guard for 19 years. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He enjoyed working around the house and in his yard, he had to stay busy.
He is preceded in death by his loving wife of 61 years, Ellen Furr Young; and his son, Timothy Warren Young.
Surviving are his sons, Thomas Young and Eric Young; grandchildren, Eric Tyler Young, Chastity Brooke Young and Trinity Young; and brother and sister, Gary and Phyllis.
To honor Herbert’s Wishes, no formal services will be held.
