OBITUARY: Linda Swink Walters

Linda Swink Walters, 80, of Hamlet, went home to be with the Lord, Saturday, Oct. 5, 2024, at her home surrounded by her loving family.

She was born April 25, 1944 in Richmond County, daughter of the late Charles Leroy Swink and Annie Reeves Swink.

Linda was full of life and loved the Lord. At times she was playful and had a little girl’s heart. She was the type of lady that could fix everyone’s problems. Linda was deeply committed to her family and was a loving mother and grandmother and will be dearly missed.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Haywood Ernest Walters Sr.; grandson, Mathew Dylan Walters; great-granddaughter, Emma Grace Benson; brothers, Alton Swink, Lonnie Swink and Herbert Swink; and sister, Mildred Brown.

Left to cherish Linda’s memory are her children, Ernie Walters, Mike Walters, both of Hamlet, Elissa Walters Winters (Jeff) of Eugene, Missouri, Susan Walters Benson and Tracey Walters Dunlap (Robert), both of Rockingham; 10 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren (and one on the way); and sister, Mabel Baker of Baltimore, Maryland.

Visitation will be Wednesday, Oct. 9, 2024 from 11 a.m.-noon at Harrington Funeral Home, Hamlet.

The Celebration of Life service will immediately follow visitation, beginning at noon, in the chapel of Harrington Funeral Home with her son, the Rev. Ernie Walters, officiating.
