“CLASSROOM CREDITS” WITH JASIAH GILCHRIST
With the first semester nearly over, Gilchrist has put in a lot of work in the classroom ahead of final week. She said being a student-athlete means putting her schoolwork ahead of her responsibilities on the court.
Taking advantage of Richmond’s dual enrollment program with Richmond Community College, Gilchrist is taking one college course this semester — Sociology 210.
Earning a spot on the A/B honor roll at Richmond during the first nine-week period, Gilchrist had As in English IV Honors and Weight Training Honors. She earned a high B in Economics and Personal Finance Honors.
Currently, Gilchrist is on pace to make the A honor roll with her three classes at Richmond during the current marking period.
Next semester she’ll take two more RichmondCC classes — Music 110 and Psychology 150 — and close out her required high school credits with Math 4 and another section of Weight Training Honors.
Ranked in the top 30% of Richmond’s graduating class of 2026, Gilchrist has a 3.58 weighted grade point average, which she expects will go up at the end of the semester.
“ON POINT” WITH JASIAH GILCHRIST
Richmond ended a nearly two-week break between games Friday when it hosted non-conference Westover High School.
Needing to go to overtime, the Lady Raiders held on 55-48 to get their first win and hand the Lady Wolverines their first loss.
Gilchrist was the game’s leading scorer, finishing with 20 points. She shot 7-of-20 from the field (35%) and made 3-of-9 attempts from beyond the arc (33%). She also had six rebounds.
Scoring 10 points in the first half, Gilchrist made two of those three-pointers to give Richmond a 25-19 lead at halftime.
She scored her remaining 10 points in the second half and overtime, including a pivotal three-ball as part of a 9-0 run to start the extra period. One of her six assists led to two more points.
The Lady Raiders (1-1) have a three-game week planned, starting Tuesday at non-conference Scotland High School (0-3). The game will start at 6 p.m.
